Keeping trees healthy, safe and the right size
Most trees need managing rather than removing. Good pruning keeps a tree healthy, lets more light into the garden and reduces the risk of branches failing.
- Crown reduction — reducing the overall size of the canopy while keeping its natural form
- Crown thinning — removing selected branches to let light and wind through
- Crown lifting — removing lower branches for clearance over paths, drives and lawns
- Pollarding — regular cutting back for willows, limes, planes and similar
- Deadwooding — removing dead or hazardous limbs, especially over paths and play areas
- Fruit tree pruning — formative and restorative work on apples, pears, plums
All pruning is carried out to BS3998, the British Standard for tree work.
